The Japan trip 2009
This year, students from the senior sub-school will travel to Japan for ten days from 2-11 December 2009. The students will arrive in Tokyo where they will stay for five nights. From Tokyo, they will travel South to Hiroshima to visit Peace memorial park and Miajima island. The group will then travel North on the shinkansen to Kyoto, where they will stay for three nights. There are many famous and traditional shrines and temples to experience.
It is a wonderful opportunity and we wish them luck on their journey to Japan
At DSC all students entering Year 7 choose to study either Indonesian or Japanese. They then continue to study this language in Year 8. From Year 9 to VCE, LOTE is elective.
Within the study of LOTE the four strands of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking are equally developed. In addition to this, the culture and customs of the country are incorporated to enhance the student’s understanding of global diversity.
DSC offers students in Year’s 10 and 11 the cultural opportunity of a study tour to Indonesia and Japan in alternating years. Students are able to experience and use their acquired language skills in a “real environment”.
