The Facilities at Dromana SC |
|
The facilities of Dromana Secondary College are unparalleled on the Peninsula with all key learning areas housed in excellent facilities. In 2001, the College began the first phase of a rebuilding and refurbishment program, starting with the library, which has been expanded and upgraded to be a resource capable of supporting the College in the 21st Century. Work has now been completed on the science and art wings, as well as the new staff and administration area. In 2007, work will begin on a new Technology Centre, incorporating state-of-the-art technology with the latest in teaching and learning methods. The College is truly proud of its facilities and we warmly invite all interested parties to visit the College, talk with staff and students, and observe the College in operation first hand.
Dromana Secondary College's goal to "empower young people to make a difference" is taken very seriously, with all students encouraged to take responsibility around the College, become involved in co-curricular programs or nominate for student government as well as take responsibility for their own learning.
The College utilises a subschool structure to smooth the transition of students into the College and as they progress through the year levels. There are four junior subschools each generally made up of 2 classes each of year 7, 8 and 9, with a subschool leader overseeing their progress. Year 10 students are prepared for the transition into VCE in the Year 10 subschool. VCE students make up the sixth subschool. Each subschool has its own unique area of the school to call their own.
