Dromana College offers a comprehensive range of design technology options for students in a state of the art Design Centre. We cater for all pathways and students have a range of options including VCE, a range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs and Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) are available.
We believe understanding new and emerging technology and the ability to design and create practical solutions to everyday problems, is a skill that will remain current. We have the capacity to offer students choices in the mediums of Food, Fibre Glass (surf boards), Jewellery, Metal, Wood, Systems, Textiles and Information Technology, all with the core emphasis on design and creativity.
The learning areas have been designed with access to the latest technological equipment, such as the Roland CNC Mill. This equipment enables students to design their products using Computer Assisted Drawing software that is integrated with the CNC Mill which will machine their finished product.
Students in Years 7 and 8 choose one Technology subject per semester which enables all students to be exposed to Food, Metal/Plastics/Systems, Textiles and Wood.
From Year 9 onwards, students also have access to Jewellery, Systems and Welding as electives so they can then try additional Technology subjects before they make their informed decision to which technology subjects they would like to pursue.
Students in the senior years can undertake the VCE subjects:
These subjects can also be taken as a VCAL option.
VET subjects are also offered at the school. These include:
