VCE FOUNDATION MATHS 1 & 2
- If you undertook Year 10 Numeracy this is the ONLY VCE Maths subject available to you in Year 11.
- If you are a VCE student you need to be aware that VCE Foundation Maths is a terminal subject, meaning it has no pathway into a Year 12 Mathematics subject.
The purpose of this subject is to enable students to develop everyday numeracy to make sense of their daily personal and public lives.
The mathematics includes the followingwhich are part of the learner’s normal routine:
- Graphs applied to tasks
Also extending to applications outside their immediate personal environment such as the workplace and the community.
There is a strong emphasis on using mathematics in practical contexts relating to everyday life, recreation, work and study.
The areas of study for Units 1 and 2 of Foundation Mathematics are:
- Space, shape and design
- Patterns and number
- Handling data
A CAS calculator is NOT required for this subject.
